Licorice sticks are artisanal hard boiled sugar sweets with a liquorice flavour, in the elongated stick shape that gives them their name. The sugar mass is boiled at high temperature until it crystallises hard, after which the liquorice flavour is worked in. Unlike a soft gum, this one isn't chewed: the stick dissolves slowly and gradually releases its dark, lightly salty-sweet liquorice taste. That makes it a sweet that lasts, where a single piece is enough. Within our liquorice range this belongs to the firmer varieties, alongside softer types such as the jojos and the liquorice gums.
