This black tea comes from the mountainous province of Yunnan in southwest China, the birthplace of the tea plant. The leaves are picked as Flowery Orange Pekoe: young, whole leaves with a generous share of golden tips. Those tips give the tea its smooth, rounded character. In the cup, the amber infusion reveals notes of honey, malt and cocoa, with a gently peppery finish. It stays mellow and low in astringency, even when steeped a little longer.
Brewing advice: 2.5 to 3 g per 250 ml, water at 90 to 95 °C, steep for 3 to 4 minutes. The leaves can be infused once or twice more.
Its honeyed cocoa notes make it a natural partner for milk chocolate, caramel and orangettes. A golden cup for anyone who loves tea and sweets together.
