Sugar hearts

Sugar hearts are hard boiled heart shaped sweets with fruit flavours, in various colours, crisp on the outside and soft inside. That double character is the point: you first bite through a crisp sugar layer and then reach a softer centre. It makes the sweet feel different from our fruit hearts and big hearts, which stay firm all the way through. Each colour stands for its own fruit flavour. The heart shape makes them popular at parties, weddings and around Valentine's Day.
