Colourful liquorice, known locally as kattepietjes, are hard boiled liquorice sticks in seven colours, one of our house classics. The combination is unusual: a sweet liquorice flavour in bright colours, where liquorice is almost always black. That contrast is exactly what makes them recognisable, and generations of Ghent locals grew up with them. Because the sugar mass is boiled hard, the sticks dissolve slowly and the flavour stays present. People who know our range often mention them in the same breath as the wippers among our own classics.
