Keemun is one of China's most celebrated black teas, grown in Qimen county in Anhui province. The Gongfu grade refers to the careful, skilled processing: the fine leaves are tightly rolled into thin, dark strands. In the cup, the bright coppery infusion releases the signature Keemun aroma: notes of orchid and rose, dried plum, a hint of smoke and a lightly winey finish. Elegant and refined, it has a lighter body than most black teas.
Brewing advice: 2 to 2.5 g per 250 ml, water at 90 to 95 °C, steep for 3 minutes. Steeping longer makes it drier, so keep an eye on the time.
A traditional cornerstone of classic breakfast blends, Keemun also pairs beautifully with dark chocolate, candied fruit and marzipan. A tea to discover slowly, cup after cup.
